COOPER PAINT HISTORY
It all started
in 1958 after serving 2 years in Korea. Allen Cooper came back after
being honorably discharged from the army after making the rank of specialist
4th class in the 7th infantry division. He got his first break working
for his father in law Herman Krauser who owned Monticello Hardware.
He convinced Herman to open a paint department in his hardware store.
On Saturday Morning January
6, 1968 an exploding oil burner in the basement of the hardware store started
a fire that raged out of control for nearly 4 hours and demolished the
entire building. After the fire destroyed the business that he and
Herman had nurtured, he went to work for Carl Arfa Decorating. He
managed Arfa Decorating for 4 years. He bought it from Carl and that
was the start of COOPER PAINT DISTRIBUTORS.
In 1973 Allen built a
NEW building at a new location in Monticello, New York. Since then it
has under gone a few alterations. When you enter Cooper Paint you
